Big Ring Ranch to host State MTB Championships
Lincoln – The 3rd annual Big Ring Ranch will be the host of the Nebraska State MTB Marathon Championships on June 21st, northwest of Lincoln near Branched Oak Lake.
The Big Ring Ranch is promoted by a local racer Will White and his family on their own private land. There is close to 400 acres of hilly virgin prairie fields and wooded areas. The terrain has a mixture of quick climbs, fire roads, and single track. The 7.5 mile loop has 800 feet of climbing making the Big Ring Ranch one of the most challenging races around.
Races include a 60 mile and a 30 mile events. The 6O mile marathon will have a solo and team competition for men, women, and coed teams. A combined cash prize list of $2625.00 is being offered in the Men and Women’s Pro/Open Solo competitions.
This will be the second year for the 30 mile event. The 30 mile course will be the same as the 60 mile race. There will only be solo categories and no team competition.
With the Big Ring Ranch sanctioned by USA Cycling, this will offer an in-state opportunity for riders to qualify for USA Cycling Marathon Mountain Bike National Championships held July 5th in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Plans are in the works to add a State Cross Country Championship later in the Summer. And if early enough the State Cross Country Championship will be a qualifier for the USA Cycling Cross-Country Mountain Bike National Championships July 17-20 in Bear Creek Resort, Pennsylvania.
Registration for the Big Ring Ranch is at USA cycling.org.
