First Fat Bike Nats This Weekend

USA Cycling is having their first ever Fat Bike Nationals in Ogden, Utah, Saturday, February 14th.

Fat Bike Nationals will be run under USA Cycling Mountain Bike Cross-Country rules with the additional requirements: handle bars can be mountain bike flat bars or road-style drop bars, tires must be a minimum of 3.8 inches wide, rims must be at least 50mm wide.

Also no 29 inch or larger wheels, no studded tires, and no blocked gears for single-speed.

Online registration closes Wednesday at 11:59pm for the inaugural USA Cycling Fat Bike National Championships to be held Saturday, February 14th, in Ogden, Utah. Registration fees are $95 for amateurs and $105 for the pro/open field.

On-site registration begins Friday, February 13 at 3:00pm and closes the night before the event and there will be no day-of registration. Fees go up to $150 for amateurs and $175 for pros.

To race in Championship events you will need a 2015 USAC annual license. Non-championship events you may race on a 2015 USAC annual or a one-day license.

Call ups for the Pros will use UCI points earned in Cyclo-cross, Road, Mountain Bike XC.

Other benefits available to racers for the event are: free Spy sunglasses to those who quality and while quantities last; two for one vouchers for ski passes at the host venue, Powder Mountain; attend the Banff Mountain Film Festival; and VWIP owner parking provided Volkswagen for VW owners (first come first served) that drive their VW to the Fat Bike Nationals.
