Velo Veloce, based in Omaha, started as the Omaha Velo Club in 2005 with just a couple of members. It has grown into a medium sized club with about 25 racers and club riders. The team is especially strong in masters events. Last year was particularly successful, with team members winning more than thirty masters, juniors, and category races in 2009 in road, mountain and cyclo-cross, including 6 state championship gold medals in road and cyclo-cross. In addition, team member Fred Galata was the 55-59 national duathlon champion and a multiple gold medalist in cycling at the World Senior Games.
