Lincoln Cyclist Killed on West Sprague Road

On Saturday, September 23rd, at approximately 5:30pm, Randy Gibson was killed when struck by a vehicle near SW 58th & West Sprague Road.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s investigation revealed that sixty-six year-old Zygmunt Spicha of Lincoln, NE, was traveling eastbound on West Sprague Road in a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. Fifty-two year-old Randall Gibson of Lincoln, NE, was also traveling eastbound on West Sprague Road on a bicycle within the legal distance of the white line. Just east of the SW 58th Street intersection, Spicha struck Gibson with the front of his vehicle. Gibson was pronounced dead at the scene. Spicha was lodged in jail for misdemeanor driving under the influence and felony motor vehicle homicide.

Randy was a part of the Pirate Cycling League with his son Russ. Randy was a bike racer and creative director Aradius Group.
