The Maskenthine XC Classic, which includes a trail run and a full schedule of XC and marathon classes, will be this Saturday May 31 at Maskenthine Lake north of Stanton, Nebraska. The trail run starts at 8AM and the MTB races at 10AM.

“The trail is in fantastic shape.” said race promoter Jon Downey of the Elkhorn Valley Cycling Club. “The Wieland brothers and Jamie Wright have worked very hard to make this course first class.” Downey added that all MTB classes will race the full course this year, including the rock sections. “It’s hard to get an accurate measure with a GPS but the course is over 7.5 miles now with the most recent additions.” Downey added.

The trail run will be on the southern half of the course only, is just shy of 3.7 miles and includes some varied terrain.

The promoters have added some incentives for this year’s race as well. First off, the women’s payout for all classes are equal to the men’s classes. Additionally, there will be a fastest lap jackpot and an entry fee refund for the highest finish on a cyclocross bike. Both of these incentives include all age, ability, and gender classes.

Online registration closes Friday evening and can be made at www.nencycling.org while “day of” registration will be available with an added fee.
