The MN Memorial Classic offered up some great race venues with perfect weather conditions. Nevertheless, as it goes with racing, anything can happen and that it did. With a major crash in the Cat 5 road race, first responders shut down the roads bringing the Cat 3 chase to a halt. USAC officials did the best they could to sort out the situation and get the race complete but not everyone was happy with the result. It definitely shook up the leaderboard putting that much more pressure on the Cat 3 criterium race.

Argentine riders, Demis Aleman and Guido Palma of Team Jamis Hagens Berman, know how to win. Working together, Demis Aleman put Jamis Hagens Berman on the top step of the podium with the Omnium Overall win in Minnesota. Second place finisher, Lee Bumgarner of Team Kaos/Alegent Creighton Health, re-captured the leaders jersey with his combined results from Iowa City. Bumgarner returns to Nebraska where he hopes to have home field advantage.

The women’s elite category has a new face at the top, Suzie Goebel, Team CPC/Core Avera Medical Group. Goebel dominated the field with a Time Trial stage win, and consistent racing throughout the weekend. The Sakari Race Team dominated both the Men Cat 3 with rider Eric Bockelman and Cat 4 Matthew Moehn.
