State Criterium To Close Out 2013 Road Season

Lincoln, NE — The new Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln’s Haymarket District will serve as the backdrop for the 2013 Nebraska USAC State Criterium Championship, September 29, 2013. Part of the two day, Lincoln Industries Cycling Challenge, the Capital City Criteriumwill be the first event of any kind held around the state of the art facility. The weekend features the Lincoln Industries Cycling Classic Gran Fondo on Saturday, 28, 2013 (see details below). Proceeds from the Lincoln Industries Cycling Classic will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Lincoln/Lancaster County.
The Capital City Criterium will take riders past area restaurants, coffee shops and hotels, on the approximately .8 miles race course.
With 3 turns and many great spectator viewing areas, including a beer garden, the Capital City Criterium will be a will be as exciting for the competitors as it is for the spectators.
In addition to the USA Cycling State Championship medals that will be awarded, the Capital City Criterium will feature $5000 in cash prizes.
Registration is available online at www.usacycling.org and closes, Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 6:00pm CDT. No on-site registration will be offered. The official race hotel and headquarters is the Courtyard by Marriott, 808 R Street, located on turn one of the Capital City Criterium course.

Gran Fondo Features Three Routes
Saturday will feature the Lincoln Industries Gran Fondo. The Gran Fondo originated in Italy and translates to “big ride.” A Gran Fondo is to cyclists what a Marathon is to runners. There are three routes that offer different levels of challenge, providing cyclists of all levels the opportunity to participate. All three routes will start and finish at the new Pinnacle Bank Arena. Route distances include a “family route” taking riders across Lincoln on the bike paths anywhere from 5-20 miles, a 50 mile route as well as a 100 mile route. Following the rides, stick around for the festival and enjoy food, music, exhibitors and kids activities, including a bike stunt show featuring Chris Clark. Registration closes Friday, September 20, 2013 at 6:00pm CDT. Entry fee includes LICC professionally timed ride, tee shirt and lunch.
