Tour De Husker To Kick Off 2013 Nebraska Road Season
Lincoln, NE — The University of Nebraska Cycling Team will once again host the season opener, March 16-17. The weekend will feature races for both USAC and Collegiate riders. In addition to being the first races of the 2013 road season in Nebraska, the weekend will also serve as the series opener for the Northern Collegiate Cycling Conference.
Racing begins on Saturday, March 16 with a road race at Branched Oak Lake for USAC licensed riders at 9:00am followed by the Collegiate road races at 1:00pm. The first day of racing will conclude with a team time trial. The team time trial is open to collegiate riders only. The course at Branched Oak Lake begins and finishes near Lieber’s Point and includes a healthy mix of rolling hills along the 11.2 mile circuit.
The race action moves back to Lincoln on Sunday with the Pinewood Bowl Criterium. The 2-mile loop in Lincoln’s oldest park features a lot of climbing including a challenging rise to the finish line directly in front of the entrance to the Pinewood Bowl.
The USAC races will feature a $1200 cash prize list both days.
Registration for all races opens at 12:00pm CST, Friday, March 1 and closes at 6:00pm CST, Friday, March 15. There will be no on site registration offered. Riders must be pre-register for all races by 6:00pm, Friday, March 15. For the collegiate team trial, the team sign up and start times will be posted on site at Branched Oak Lake, Saturday, March 16. The collegiate team time trial is free to collegiate riders with a paid road race entry.
